Biblical Christians Save Children of Mariupol

Christians from America, Poland, and Ukraine jointly organized the evacuation of 62 orphans from Mariupol. The initiator of the action was Pastor Matt Shea and his wife Viktoria from Ukraine. Pastor Shea works as part of the American organization Loving Families & Home for Orphans, which for several years has been helping in the adoption of orphans from Ukraine by Ukrainian families in the United States. They came to Poland together with a group of American Christians, from where they went to Lviv to save orphans from the war and transport them to a safe place – to the House of Creative Work of the Association of Polish Journalists in Kazimierz Dolny. On the Polish side, the action was coordinated by pastor Paweł Chojecki and pastor Radosław Kopeć from the New Covenant Church in Lublin. The transport of children from Mariupol to Lviv was organized by Ukrainian pastors. Two Polish drivers from a transport company in the vicinity of Janów Lubelski turned out to be silent heroes of the action. Great and quick help was also shown by the Mayor of Lublin Krzysztof Żuk and people from the Center for Aid to Ukraine. It was they who helped to organize accommodation. The director of the center, Dariusz Popławski, together with his employees, showed great heart.

The children have been under the care of volunteers from the New Covenant Church and Christians from America. They are also provided with psychological, pedagogical, and medical care.  [Article]  [Film

Unfortunately, false posts appeared on social media alarming about alleged problems with the lack of food or deportation of Ukrainian children who are in Poland as refugees. This led to many unjustified interventions by local activists and the police. Unfortunately, some Polish media began to fuel the atmosphere of scandal around this case and reproduce many rumors and lies about the Americans who helped the orphans of Mariupol, saving them from the war. As a result of this propaganda, another group of orphans from Vinnytsia decided to stay in Ukraine. "They would rather expose themselves to Russian bombs than be used by Russian propaganda in Poland," Pastor Matthew Shea reported on Against the Tide TV.  [Article 1] [Article 2]

After these events, Bartłomiej Godlewski, Deputy Mayor of Kazimierz Dolny and Dariusz Popławski, director of the Journalist's House, where orphans from Mariupol found shelter, appeared on our TV. Both criticized the ridiculous accusations made against American Protestants and also presented the results of the inspections, which did not reveal any irregularities.

The president of the Association of Polish Journalists Krzysztof Skowroński spoke about the orphans from Mariupol. He denied rumors about the alleged harm that is happening to Ukrainian children rescued from the war zone. On the other hand, the actions of Polish journalists, specifically the article by the editor of Żądło from Newsweek, commented on the topic:

"It has been a long time since I witnessed so many manipulative events – facts and comments – played out, mixed with fiction. The article slandered the guardians and accused them of committing all the sins of the world. Almost all."

WHAT ELSE:

CEvery day we embrace in our prayers the suffering and fighting Ukrainians and we ask God for a complete victory for Ukraine, which alone defends the entire Free World. From the very first days of the war, we were involved in actively helping the fraternal Ukrainian nation treacherously invaded by Russia. That is why we have launched another initiative for evangelical Christians. The letter to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has already been signed by pastors of the New Covenant Church in Lublin (Paweł Chojecki, Radosław Kopeć, Paweł Machała, Michał Fałek) and pastor Ireneusz Dawidowicz from the "Way of Salvation" Congregation of the Baptist Church in Poland and many Christians. Encourage your church to join the action!  [Article]  [Film]
